ͷ State Student Affairs stands with our African-American/Black students. We recognize how the trial has brought back all the pain that erupted when the world first saw George Floyd live his last moments under the knee of a police officer. We grieve with you. We know you are sick and tired. Knowing this, we send this message with love so that we may support you as we walk together into whatever comes next. Today there is some relief. However, we know this is not the end, but only another beginning. Here and now, Student Affairs promises to continue to put forth the time and resources to ensuring an inclusive environment at WSU.
Student Affairs is home to a variety of . These clubs and organizations can be supportive of each other as well as serve as spaces where students can connect with people who have similar backgrounds, experiences and goals. We are also home to departments that can help you process your feelings and experiences including the WSU Care Team, Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS), and the Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI). ODI and CAPS have already collaborated to provide you with some times and spaces on Wednesday, April 21 for you to process the recent events:
- Virtual Debriefing sessions will be available at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 1 p.m.
- In-Person Debriefing Sessions will be held in Rhatigan Student Center 208 from 2 – 4 p.m. (you can just drop in)
Zoom links can be found on the ODI website. We are also working to create additional opportunities for you to listen and discuss the verdict and what you believe we can do to promote positive change so we encourage you to watch your email and our various social media outlets for updates. We also encourage you to visit these sites for additional resources:

Our purpose is to “Connect Every Student.” Now more than ever, connections will be of the utmost importance. Regardless of how you feel, know that there are others here who value what you bring to our community. You do not have to go through this experience alone.
With love,
