Training & Development Opportunities

SASE offers a range of services to support the overall professional development of our divisional staff. These options include inventories, workshops, and a series of events focused on employee personal and professional development. 

Inventories & Workshops

Our department is certified to administer inventories, provide 1-on-1 Coaching and Team or Individual Workshops on various topics! Inventories Include:

PDP ProScan: Developed by PDPGlobal,  the PDP ProScan is a behavioral assessment used to measure the dynamics of individuality鈥攈ow we act, react, communicate, lead and manage stress. Beyond the ProScan, departments and teams benefit from the TeamScan function that provides a similar report to focus on team dynamics. This inventory, coaching, and resources are free within the Division of Student Affairs. This service is available outside of the division for a fee. Sample of the PDP ProScan

Q12 Employee Engagement Survey: This survey focuses on employee well-being and engagement in four primary areas: Basic Needs, Individual Focus, Team Environment, and Growth Opportunities. These themes are divided into 12 questions promoting a user-friendly experience with immediate results and action steps departments and leaders can implement.

SAPRO Supervisor Series

Supervisor and leader training and development is essential for improved performance, employee engagement, succession planning, and more. Investing in our leaders promotes a motivating, engaged, and resilient workplace. Training opportunities we have implemented for leaders and supervisors in the Division of Student Affairs include: 

  • Becoming Better Supervisors: This series provided by WSU's Public Policy and Management Center (PPMC) includes workshops and sessions addressing various aspects of management and supervision. Topics like "Working Across Generations", "Motivating Today's Workforce", and more focus on building better practices and skills in supervision. 
  • Like A Boss: Like A Boss is professional development investment that focuses on individuals in leadership roles. This program is specifically designed to discuss the in-and-outs related to becoming a new supervisor, becoming and/or developing as a mid-level leader and various other topics related to being a leader in your department and organization.
  • Strengths in Supervision: This new program focuses on leveraging one's own strengths in their supervisory capacities. Additionally, this series includes individual strengths discovery as well as how to recognize and elevate the strengths of their employees. 

DSA Speaker Series & Cohorted Development

Partnering both internally and externally, the speaker series allows Student Affairs staff to connect with topics that align with the mission and purpose of the division. These topics range from personal & professional development to serving the students of today and tomorrow. Student Affairs has hosted the following speakers as part of this professional development series:

  • Student Success for Today鈥檚 Learner: The Higher Ed Landscape and Strategies for Navigating Toward a Brighter Future - Kevin Clark; EAB

Cohorted training opportunities allow for a group of professionals to go through a program or event together. These high impact programs are intentional in how participants engage and apply concepts to their professional roles. Recently offered cohorted experiences include EQi Development and Like A Boss.
