What is Shocker GROW庐?

The Division of Student Affairs has adopted GROW庐 conversations from The University of Iowa's Divison of Student Life. GROW庐 conversations help our students connect their academic learning to their learning in their student employment opportunity.

Only 5 Minutes?

These conversations are meant to be short and to the point. While the model implies it will only require 5 minutes of your time, we encourage to keep these types of conversations going with student employees.

What are the 4 questions?

The four questions are simple:

  1. How is this job fitting in with your academics?
  2. What are you learning here that鈥檚 helping you in school?
  3. What are you learning in class that you can apply here at work?
  4. Can you give me a couple of examples of things you鈥檝e learned here that you think you鈥檒l use in your chosen profession?

These questions help our student employees make connections between the skills they learn in the classroom and the skills they learn at their job.
