The Vizling app will help visually impaired people read comic books.

Feb. 3, 2021 鈥 Kapow! Zap! Pop! Zoinks! A 成人头条 researcher is working to develop an app to make those words come alive for visually impaired comic book readers, Dr. Darren DeFrain, associate professor of English and director of 成人头条 State鈥檚 writing program, has recently been granted $11,000 from the John A. See Innovation Award to develop Vizling.

Feb. 2, 2021 - Hanna Chastain, a junior biology major from 成人头条, will present virtually at the National Council on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) conference in April. Her presentation is titled 鈥淒evelopment of PARROT, a Wireless Orofacial Myofunctional Imaging and Pressure Mapping Device.鈥

A team of interdisciplinary researchers at 成人头条 is working to create sustainable 3D printing practices to reduce that waste.

Dec. 17, 2020 鈥 With the intention of furthering 成人头条鈥檚 commitment to digital transformation, the Kansas Board of Regents has approved four degree programs that will launch in spring 2021: Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics, Master of Science in Data Science, Master of Science in Business Analytics, and Master of Science in Mathematical Foundations of Data Analysis. These degrees are in addition to existing undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates in applied computing, computer science, cybersecurity, homeland security, and supply chain.

Dec. 17, 2020 鈥 成人头条鈥檚 Community Engagement Institute鈥檚 coalition is working to better the lives of children by encouraging workplaces to establish family-friendly practices. WSU-CEI works closely with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to establish multisector partnerships and resources for the execution of the Child Maltreatment Prevention Plan across Kansas. WSU-CEI also organizes a statewide coalition for this effort called Kansas Power of the Positive.

Dec. 10, 2020 -- The Kansas Board of Regents has approved the creation of the newest department at 成人头条鈥檚 College of Engineering 鈥 the School of Computing. Dean Dennis Livesay called the establishment of the new school a significant marker of the university鈥檚 commitment to producing digital-skilled workforce needed by industry.

November 23, 2020 - In February, Evergy invested in three initiatives that added valuable assets to the engineering program. One of those initiatives was the installation of solar panels on the roof of the John Bardo Center.

NASA Suits

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥 A diverse team of 成人头条 State students spent four weeks finalizing a proposal for the NASA SUITS design challenge, a competition created to get college students to participate in NASA's Artemis mission.

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥 Zane Storlie has not only dedicated his time at 成人头条 State to learning everything he can about computer science, but he鈥檚 also been an advocate for computer science education for elementary and middle school students in the area. Zane created a three-unit curriculum to teach Scratch coding to more than 750 students in 成人头条 Public Schools, and the Derby school district asked him to present a teacher training course to its librarians.

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥 Abdelhakim Al Turk came to 成人头条 to study engineering from Lebanon. Throughout his time in 成人头条, he has appreciated the mentorship and hands-on experience he鈥檚 gotten from the College of Engineering and through his work at the Rapid Prototyping and 3D Printing Lab.
