Overview
The WSU Play Therapy Center offers a Play Therapy Certificate Program in child/play therapy.
Please Note: Certificate programs are not eligible for federal financial aid unless it is awarded as part of a degree program such as the counseling program.
Certificate Requirements
The Play Therapy Certificate consists of 15 graduate hours.
Admission Requirements
When applying for admission to the Play Therapy Certificate you must submit to the Graduate School:
- A completed graduate school application for Non-degree A Category (if not already in a degree program). NOTE: Graduates of a WSU Masters program do not need to apply to the Graduate School.
- Transcripts: Evidence of having completed a master's degree in counseling, social
work or a closely related field*. Cumulative GPA of 3.25 in the required prerequisite
graduate degree.
*Students enrolled in a mental health degree program such as counseling may also take play therapy courses.
You must also submit the following items to the Department:
- Resume
- Goal Statement
- Two professional references
If you are a current Graduate Student either admitted to a degree program or non-degree category A status, please fill out the Declaration of Intent to pursue a certificate.
