WSU Engineering Summer Camps 2020

All camps will be held on the 成人头条 main campus, located northeast of 17th and Oliver.
Full-day camps include lunch. Half-day camps include daily snack. All participants receive a camp T-shirt.
WEEK 1
LEGO I Camp, 4th-5th Grade, June 1-5, 8:30-Noon, $250
LEGO I Camp, 6th-8th Grade, June 1-5, 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., $250
- Students will work with partners to build and program robots using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 kits. They will learn to make their robots move and use sensors to interact with objects around them. This camp is for students who are new to programming with the EV3 robotics system.
Girls Theme Park High School Camp, 9th-12th Grades, June 1-4, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch included, SCHOLARSHIP ONLY, $375 VALUE
- Curious how your favorite theme parks are designed and built? This summer camp will take you behind the scenes to meet a theme park engineer, design your own ride and learn how to optimize the wait lines and services at the park so that guests enjoy their stay. You'll even get to go to a local theme park to see how they operate and to have a great time enjoying the rides.
WEEK 2
LEGO II Camp, 4th-5th Grade, June 8-12, 8:30 a.m. - Noon, $250
LEGO II Camp, 6th-8th Grade, June 8-12, 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., $250
- Students will work with partners to build and program robots using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 kits. "Robot Driving School" where all of the challenges are based on the idea of earning a license to drive using your robot. This camp is for students who already have experience programming with the EV3 robotics system.
Accessibilty Hacker High School Camp, 9th-12th Grade, June 8-11, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch included, SCHOLARSHIP ONLY, $375 VALUE
- This camp will put you in the lab to design, build, test, and deliver products to people in our community that improve their lives. Campers will compete in fun daily design challenges, experience adaptive sports and video games, and will adapt toys to bring joy and play to local children.
WEEK 3
Sphero Bots Camp, 4th-5th Grade, June 15-19, 8:30 a.m. -Noon, $250
Sphero Bots Camp, 6th-8th Grade, June 15-19, 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., $250
- Campers will complete their mission(s) to explore and map out the moon through programming their Sphero Bot rover to navigate from one base camp to another base camp while navigating through valleys, rills and craters.
Drone: Build It! High School Camp, 9th-12th Grade, June 15-18, 8:30 to 4:30 with lunch included, $500*
- This hands-on camp will introduce you to the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) world by exploring the varied uses of UAV technology, the Federal Aviation Administration regulations, and the concepts needed to build and operate your own "drone." Utilizing 成人头条 State University鈥檚 Project Innovation Hub, we will learn methods such as laser cutting/engraving, CNC routing, waterjet cutting, soldering, and basic electrical and electronic circuits to prototype and build and fly our very-own UAV鈥檚. *Fee includes a $275 value drone that each camper will be able to take home.
WEEK 4
Middle School Biomedical Engineering, 6th-7th Grade, June 22-26, 8:30 a.m. to Noon, $250
- Campers will work as part of a team to explore prosthetics. Students will brainstorm, sketch and create a prototype of a missing limb for a patient that has suffered a debilitating loss of a limb. Campers will take this activity a step further and design their prototype using Autodesk Inventor in order to print their prototype on a 3D printer. *Due to time constraints, not all prototypes may be printed.
WEEK 5
Circuits and Solar Energy High School Camp, 9th-12th Grade, June 29-July 3, 8:30 a.m. to Noon, SCHOLARSHIP ONLY, $250 VALUE
- In this camp students are going to learn about the basic electric terminology like current, voltage, power and energy, resistance, capacitance and inductance, and they will also learn Ohm鈥檚 law, resistors in series and parallel. We will discuss about residential energy usage and how to use electrical energy wisely. Students are going to learn about the physics behind the semiconducting material, how the electrons are moving in the solar cell, Students will have a chance to work with solar cells to make a small solar panel, Students will get a chance to work with bread board circuit, snap circuit, and circuit analyzing software.
WEEK 6
Vex Robotics, 8th-9th Grade, July 6-9, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch included, $375
- Campers will learn robotics design, problem-solving, project management, team-building, and presentation skills. Campers will spend time on working with the VEX robotic system. This camp will provide good preparation for campers interested in transitioning from LEGO Robotics to Kansas BEST Robotics teams.
STEMusic Camp, 2nd-4th Grades, July 9-10, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch included, $200
- Campers will choose a STEM topic area (science, technology, engineering and math), study that topic and write, record and perform a song with a professional engineer and musician. This two-day camp schedule is designed for younger children.
WEEK 7
Arduino Camp, 8th-9th grades, July 13-17, 8:30 a.m. to Noon, $250
- In this camp students are going to write programs by using Arduino software (IDE) to activate the electrical circuit. Students will design electrical circuits by using resistors, sensors, diodes, LEDs on bread board by using UNO R3 controller board. This camps is great for the students who are interested in coding and designing the circuits.
WEEK 8
Scratch Coding Jump Start, 2nd-3rd Grade, 8:30 a.m. to Noon, July 20, $100*
Scratch Coding Jump Start, 4th-5th Grade, 8:30 a.m. to Noon, July 21, $100*
Scratch Coding Jump Start, 6th-7th Grade, 8:30 a.m. to Noon, July 22, $100*
- In this mini one-day camp, campers will create Scratch accounts, learn the basics of Scratch coding -- working through the same curriculum we bring to elementary schools during the school year -- and leave being able to continue building their skills on their own. Each camper will receive a set of Scratch coding cards ($25 value) to take home.
WEEK 9
Cybersecurity Boot High School Camp, 9th-12th grades, July 27-30, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., SCHOLARSHIP ONLY, $250 VALUE
- Campers will participate in a cyber exercise designed to expose them to cyber defense and offense in a safe and fun environment. They will learn to work as a team, and use cyber skills to accomplish exercise objectives.
