Scholarships, fellowships and grants are great ways to fund your education and academic research. All students are encouraged to apply. Scholarships are awarded to undergraduates, while fellowships are graduate awards.

The following scholarships and fellowships are provided to Psychology students by the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS).

The Randall Chambers Fellowship is awarded annually in the Fall while all others are awarded annually in the Spring.

Recipient(s) of this scholarship will be a student(s) in their junior or senior years.
Recipient(s) must meet and maintain the academic eligibility criteria determined by their college.
Award(s) will be made with regard to financial need.
Preference given to a Psychology student seeking a career focused on the mental health and well-being of at-risk youth.
Award amount: $500
The scholarship(s) will not be renewed.

Scholarship(s) will be awarded annually to a student(s) enrolled full or part time at 成人头条 in the Fairmount College of Fine Arts, Department of Psychology.
Preference will be given to student(s) with financial need.
Recipient(s) must be majoring in psychology.
Preference will be given to student(s) who reflect many of the ideals & characteristics Grant Kenyon represented. These include:
1. evidence of having embarked upon breadth of reading & scholarly study,
2. insatiable curiosity,
3. know what social & intellectual conformity is, but be a non-conformist,
4. be freely & willingly able to share her/his knowledge & attitudes in discussions,
5. willing & able to listen attentively to views, even those opposed to her/his own, and
6. to foster in others full freedom of thought & responsible actions, no matter how unpopular.
7. A wry sense of humor would help.
Undergraduate recipient(s) must be enrolled in at least nine (9) hours.

Mary Wittenbach Memorial Book Scholarship

Scholarship(s) will be awarded annually to a student(s) enrolled full or part time at 成人头条, Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, majoring in psychology.
The scholarship(s) is to provide funds to purchase books in support of the courses the recipient(s) pursues each semester.
The award(s) shall be made in two equal amounts at the beginning of each semester.
Priority consideration shall be given to students who are at least partially self-supporting and have need for this extra financial aid. Such consideration would definitely associate the fund with the past history and experiences of the honoree(s).
The scholarship(s) may be renewed.

Fellowship in Memory of Dr. Randall M. Chambers, Distinguished Professor Emeritus

A $1,000.00 fellowship will be awarded annually each spring to a graduate student enrolled full or part time at 成人头条 in the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Department of Psychology, Human Factors Program.
Selection of recipient will be based upon faculty ratings of the Department of Psychology, Human Factors research projects submitted by graduate students of the program in the spring semester prior to the fall award.
Award will be made without regard to financial need.
Fellowship is not automatically renewable, but may be renewed through the annual fellowship selection process.

George A. Lewis Memorial Fund

A fellowship will be awarded annually to a graduate student enrolled full or part time at 成人头条, Fairmount College of Liberal
Arts and Sciences in the Department of Psychology.
The recipient is to be in the experimental phase of the program.
The criteria for selection is to be based upon scholarship, leadership and contribution to the University and community.
Need should not enter into the selection criteria.
The award is never to be less than $200.00.

Purpose and Background Information

The purpose of the NRSA research training program is to help ensure that a diverse and highly trained workforce is available to assume leadership roles related to the Nation's biomedical and behavioral research agenda. The NRSA program has been the primary means of supporting predoctoral and postdoctoral research training programs since enactment of the NRSA legislation in 1974. Evaluation Criteria

Training Program

Are the objectives, design and direction of the proposed research training program appropriate? Does the proposed program provide suitable training for the levels of trainees being proposed and the area of science to be supported by the program? Is the quality of proposed course contents and training experience appropriate for all levels of trainees to be included in the program? Are inter- and multi-disciplinary research training opportunities or novel concepts, approaches, methodologies, or technologies appropriately utilized?

Training Program Director/Principal Investigator (PD/PI)

Does the Training PD/PI have the scientific background, expertise, and experience appropriate to direct, manage, coordinate, and administer the proposed research training program? Does the PD/PI plan to commit adequate
time to the program? For applications designating multiple PD/PIs, is the leadership approach, including the designated roles and responsibilities, governance and organizational structure consistent with and justified by the aims of the research training program and the expertise of each of the PD/PIs? Does the PD/PI team bring complementary and integrated expertise to the proposed research training program? Does the leadership plan describe how multiple PD/PIs will benefit the program and the trainees?

Preceptors/Mentors

Is the caliber of preceptors/mentors as researchers, including successful competition for research support in areas directly related to the proposed research training program appropriate for their role in the training program? Is there a sufficient number of experienced mentors with appropriate expertise and funding available at the applicant institution to support the number of trainees and levels of trainees being proposed in the application?

Past Training Record

Is the past research training record of the program, the Training PD/PI, and designated preceptors/mentors appropriate? How successful are former trainees in seeking further career development and in establishing productive scientific careers? Is there evidence of successful completion of programs, receipt of subsequent fellowships and/or career awards, further training appointments, and similar accomplishments? Is there evidence of a productive scientific career, such as a record of successful competition for research grants, receipt of special honors or award, a record of publications, receipt of patents, promotion to scientific positions, and any other measure of success consistent with the nature and duration of the training received. What is the track record of proposed mentors in similar research training programs? Is there a record in retaining healthprofessional postdoctorates (i.e., individuals with the M.D., D.O, D.D.S. D.N.Sc., etc.) for at least 2 years in research training or other research activities, if appropriate?

Institutional Training Environment, Commitment, and Resources

Is the quality of the research environment for the proposed research training program appropriate? Is the level of institutional commitment, quality of available facilities, courses, research and research training support suitable? Is the proposed program to be an integral component of the applicant institution's overall research program/mission?

Trainee Recruitment, Selection, and Retention Plan

Are the quality of the applicant pool and plans for the selection and retention of individuals appointed to the training program appropriate? Specifically, what is the size and quality of the applicant pool? Are the recruiting procedures, trainee selection criteria, and retention strategies appropriate and well defined? Are there advertising plans or other effective strategies to recruit high-quality trainees?

National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program

Overview

Psychology applications due in November
1,654 Fellowships will be awarded
- $30,000 stipend/year for 3 years (usable over 5 years)
- $10,500 for tuition and institutional allowance
- $1,000 one-time funding for international travel

Eligibility

Applicants must be United States citizens or nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States.
Must be prepared to begin graduate study by summer or fall
People typically apply:
- During the senior year of college
- After college but prior to graduate school
- During first year of graduate school
- Prior to completing first term of second year of graduate school
Applicants must have completed no more than 12 months of full-time graduate study or its equivalent as of Aug. 1.
- No more than 24 semester hours or 36 quarter hours for part-time students.
- Credit limit applied to part-time graduate students; there is no credit limit for full-time students, only the 12 month limit.
- There are exceptions for interrupted graduate study of 2 years or more or for a significant change of field.

Eligible fields of study

Fellowships are for graduate study leading to research-based master's or doctoral degrees in the fields of:

science
technology
engineering
mathematics

Clinical and counseling psychology are not supported in this program. Categories that are always ineligible: Clinical, counseling, business or management fields, social work, education, or history.
