Ariana Kopycinski, Hartman Scholarship Recipient
The field of Sociology is so interdisciplinary is what first drew me to the major. And, that it uses research techniques and sociological theories to help better explain and understand the social world and the various breakdowns of groups in society, on both macro and micro levels.
The most important skills that I am building on in my degree are the ability to conduct research, the ability to identify problems from different perspectives, and the ability to change my perspective when evidence suggests that I should. These skills will be essential to my chosen career path, which lies in research and fieldwork within nonprofit organizations.
