Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the first Monday of September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States.

The International Day of Charity is an international day observed annually on 5 September. It was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012. The prime purpose of the International Day of Charity is to raise awareness and provide a common platform for charity related activities all over the world for individuals, charitable, philanthropic and volunteer organizations for their own purposes on the local, national, regional and international level.

International Literacy Day is an international observance, celebrated each year on 8 September, that was declared by UNESCO on 26 October 1966. Its aim is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. Celebrations take place in several countries.

Constitution Day (or Citizenship Day) is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is observed on September 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia.

Since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day as international observances on September 27. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness of the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide.

September is Suicide Prevention Month 鈥 a time to raise awareness of this urgently important crisis. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), in 2023, deaths by suicide surpassed 50,000 in the United States. Mental health professionals say post pandemic effects played a large role in the spike of suicides. Suicide thoughts are widespread among adults in the U.S. In 2022, about 13.2 million seriously thought about suicide, 3.8 million made a plan for suicide, and 1.6 million attempted suicide. That year, over 49,000 people died by suicide, that translates to one death by suicide every 11 minutes. Suicide can be prevented.

National Hispanic Heritage Month (Spanish: Mes nacional de la herencia hispana) is annually celebrated from September 15 to October 15 in the United States for recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.
