Student Information Training
- Can't find the Banner Student training that you are looking for in myTraining? Some
Banner Student trainings are not located in myTraining and require preauthorization.
- Start here with the employee's supervisor following the steps listed in the Banner Request for Access to start the process.
- The Banner Student trainings offered by ITS and Request for Access guidelines are listed below.
The Registrar's Office approves all access requests for Student Information, including
Banner Student Records, Schedule Building and WSU Reporting. Requests for access to
Student Information must be submitted by the employee's supervisor to stusecurityaccess@wichita.edu for approval by the Registrar's Office.
Request for Access to Student Information must include:
- Date:
- Employee Name:
- Employee myWSU ID:
- Employee Email:
- Start Date:
- Position Title:
- Is the employee in a new position, or is the new employee replacing someone in an existing position?
- If the employee is filling a new position, specify the tasks that the employee will handle that warrant access to Student Information in Banner, WSU Reporting or other systems:
- If the employee is filling an existing position:
- List the previous employee's name and myWSU ID:
- Is the new employee responsible for all of the same tasks as previous employee?
- If No, list all responsibilities of the new employee that require access to Student Information:
- Is the employee transferring from another WSU position?
- If Yes, what was their previous position and how long will they need to retain their previous access?
- Supervisor Name:
- Banner forms or classes needed (if known)
- Training Availability:
- Provide at least 2 dates and times that the employee is available for training on Banner Student Information:
- Provide the employee's preferred method of training:
- In-person sessions are held in Jabara Hall on the WSU Main Campus.
- Remote sessions are held in Microsoft Teams.

Please Note:
- All Student Information requests are created and can be tracked through TeamDynamix.
- The employee's Request for Access must be submitted before Banner Student Information training is held.
- Please allow at least 2 business days for your Request for Access to be reviewed and approved by the Registrar's Office.
- ITS Applications Training will reach out directly to the employee and/or their supervisor to schedule training as needed only after the employee's Request for Access has been approved by the Regitrar's Office and completed by Information Security. Access to Student Information is granted in Banner TEST during training.
- After the employee completes training, please allow at least 2 business days for all Production (PROD) access to be applied by Information Security.
Banner Student Advisor Profile is a tool used by Academic and Faculty Advisors to access student profiles and academic information. This session introduces the Student Advisor Profile's features and the Student Information that it can gather in Banner.
- This training is only for Academic or Faculty Advisors and other employees who require access to the Student Advisor Profile.
- Preauthorization is required prior to attending training. Refer to Request Access to Banner Student Information.
Banner Navigation training is designed to help users understand and navigate the Banner TEST and PROD environments, access and navigate Banner pages and forms, and customize the My Banner Menu (GUAPMNU).
- This training is for all employees who require access to Banner PROD.
- Employees are encouraged to attend Banner Navigation training in-person. These sessions are typically paired with training on Banner Student Information forms and procedures that are specific to an employee's role or responsibilities.
- Preauthorization is required prior to attending training. Refer to Request Access to Banner Student Information.
Data Standards training is designed to guide employees who have maintenance access to GOAMTCH or any -AIDEN forms in Banner.

- Preauthorization is required prior to attending training. Refer to Request Access to Banner Student Information.
Schedule Building training on building and approving the WSU Schedule of Courses.
- Schedule Building Sections 1 and 2 are required for new WSU schedule builders responsible for building and approving the WSU Schedule of Courses. Attendees learn to enter the schedule and view information through Banner 9, Self Service and WSU Reporting. Banner 9 Navigation and various Banner catalog and schedule inquiry forms are also incorporated into this intensive training session.
- Schedule Building Overview for WSU schedule builders responsible for building and approving the WSU Schedule of Courses. NOT a replacement for the full length Schedule Building training offered each summer and winter. This training is a modified version of the full length bi-yearly trainings. It is intended to give an overview and introduction to how Schedule Building works. New WSU schedule builders will still be required to attend the full length Sections 1 and 2 that are required for new WSU schedule builders responsible for building and approving the WSU Schedule of Courses.
- Preauthorization is required prior to attending training. The employees supervisor must email a Banner Request for Access to the Registrar's office for approval. Please follow the steps in the Banner Request for access.

This training reviews specific Banner Student pages and their functions based on the employees access and responsibilities. This session will include Banner Navigation. Depending on the level of access, this training may include WSU Reporting.
- Preauthorization is required prior to attending training. The employee's supervisor
must email a request to the stusecurityaccess@wichita.edu for approval by the Registrar's Office. Please follow the steps in the Banner Request
for access.
- Successful completion of FERPA within the past 3 years is required.
- This training is for or Advisors, Department Chairs, and Support Staff whose positions require access to Banner Student Information.
- This session is between 1-3 hours long depending on access.
In the Banner Faculty Grade Entry training employees learn to navigate the Faculty Grade Entry screen and look up class lists in Banner Self Service and WSU Reporting.
- This training is for Faculty who are responsible for entering student grades into Banner.
- This is a 1 hour training session.
